Writing One Song A Week For A Year

In the summer of 2016, I was desperate for a creative outlet after the downfall of my three and half years long romantic relationship and the collapse of my first business. I was in a tough place in my life.

And every time I felt like I’ve hit rock bottom, music has always been there for me — especially when I didn’t know how to express myself.

I created an alter ego, “A! Persona” and her role was to give me permission to be the person I wished I could be. Bold, Brave and Daring.

I really had no intentions of being able to perform on stages or being able to collaborate with such inspiring and talented people… but alas! That is what unfolded when I decided to challenge myself to write a song once a week for a whole year and share it on YouTube.

This video is a celebratory recap of one year of my YouTube challenge called Tuney Tuesday. The show where I drop a new tune every Tuesday. This show went on for 74 weeks.

Hello world! It’s your girl A, back at it again with another Tuney Tuesday. Toonie Tuesday, Tuney Tuesday.

For those of you that are new to this channel, Tuney Tuesday is a series that I created where I drop a new tune every Tuesday and the goal for this all is just to be okay with imperfection and to fall in love with the progress and just not feeling like things need to be perfect and just explore and practice and try new things.

So, that’s kind of what this series is all about.

And now it’s been one year since I’ve started this journey. And it’s been really fun.

From writing lyrics and raps, to my silly dance moves, to learning to play the guitar and ukulele, to my pun-filled skits and corny as a cornfield jokes, to exploring what I can create visually,

introducing you guys to some of my personas, to getting out of my comfort zone, to getting out of my comfort zone, to getting out of my comfort zone, to getting out of my bedroom for live performances and meeting and collaborating with beautiful and talented artists.
